I feel a common trend among DDM teams or teams that rely on the drive and kick game is that there is too much dribble and not enough pass. Over dribbling can be fool’s gold against inferior opponents, but cause self inflicted problems vs. better teams or packline teams. I feel teams over dribble for a few reasons:
- Early in the process the coach initially falls in love with the dribble drive approach to offense. It is much more difficult to take away the dribble than it is to add it later.
- Skill development is not directly alignment with their offense.
- Practices are not designed to have carryover into games.
